In Raweon, a world where gods and humans coexist, the gods survive by feeding on humanity’s reverence. In return, they use that power to protect humankind, while humans live their lives under divine blessings, forming a continuous “cycle of reverence and grace.” Yusa, the river god of Cheongyugang, has refused human reverence for nearly a hundred years after losing Tan’eo, the human disciple he once cherished most. Whenever he nears the brink of losing his divinity and fading into an insignificant being, he barely prolongs his fragile existence by borrowing divine power through a spiritual union with Gaho, a mountain god who secretly harbors feelings for him. Meanwhile, Dajin—the son of a great general whose entire family was slaughtered by an evil god—longs for only one thing: revenge. To achieve it, he dreams of becoming an Inje (Human Emperor) by becoming a god’s disciple. He seeks out Gaho and asks to be taken in as his disciple, relying on his exceptional martial prowess, but Gaho sees through the vengeance consuming his heart and rejects him.
